Training/Practicing at home

Postby Ben Smith » Wed Oct 07, 2009 10:18 am

Without a doubt the Dojang is the perfect place to train. However, some people enjoy some additional practice at home.

Now most homes are nothing like a Dojang... As I discovered last night.. Turning Back Kick is a bit dangerous to practice in confined spaces.. So I put it to everyone, what kind of oopsies/accidents have you done while practicing outside the Dojang?

My list now includes Turning Back Kick-ing a set of drawers (Thank fully the Television proped above it didn't fall completely off T_T ).

My list also includes a polished wood floor >_< .

That is hillarious. i took out a globe above me with a kendo stick. i was showing my friend and just raised it a bit too high and presto took out the light. from now on the stick stays in the garage with the punching bag. i wasn't to impressed getting showered in glass (altough it was quite funny to my guests).

I've back rolled into a wall, but that's about it.

I once missed my punching bag and managed to hit a table on a corner on impact i thought i was about to see my fingers bend the wrong way so i let my wrist go limp,BIG MISTAKE,I managed to goose neck my wrist and sprain it badly ouch! From this I leant to aim better and always keep a firm fist

Oh, I forgot my favourite.

I once did a front snap kick in the office. The kick was fine, but my shoes were not. My shoe went flying from my foot and ended up in the ceiling behind some roof tiles :)

I got an interesting reaction from my colleagues :P

Re: Demo staff

Postby Bernie Maginnity » Mon Oct 26, 2009 8:29 pm

I was practising spinning a staff at home a few years ago and the dog became curious.
The dog came in for a closer look, as I was concentrating on the staff.
CRACK. He looked at me with that look "What did I do?"

The Boss banned me from practising staff in the back yard.

I've managed to perform a low spinning hook kick on a wall. My heel bruised up nicely & I was limping ofr a couple of days. The house doesn't talk back to me any more!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
